Gallery 1 – Foyer Space
Entrance
James Voller

Entrance places imagery of suburban housing facades from northern Melbourne into the Foyer Space of c3. The photographic intervention engages with the space through its interaction with the arched windows and the architecture depicted in the imagery. Entrance takes the current strategies the artist’s practice, which predominantly exists in public spaces, placing them in a gallery context. Over the last three years Voller has created an archive of housing from the northern and western suburbs of Melbourne. As more people move to these areas, medium and high-density apartment blocks are replacing many iconic older houses. He uses images of iconic housing to create installations that look at where people are living, where these areas have come from, and where they are heading.
