EMILY BOUR
Emily Bour is a Melbourne-based artist whose practice ranges across mediums including video, installation, sculpture and painting. The process and developemnt of the work is a creative exercise that endeavours to convey an instinctive understanding of feeling in pure form, particularly in relation to the human body. Her current pre-occupation with the transfiguration of the found object aims to project an alternate reality: an imaginative playground that is parallel to our own, which encourages a process of play.
Looking at the relationship of scale and playing with popular notions of sci-fi such as bending time and space, the works reflect a primal process of un-learning, a collapsing of order and rationality. Here, it is acceptable (if not inevitable) to concede to a dream-like, non-specific version of things.
