BASALT WOUND
ALEX RAGG AND JASPER JORDAN LANG

Examining the significance of objects in both the public and private space through time and memory, basalt wound presents a series of questions posed towards traditional ideas about the influence of everyday materials in contemporary society. Objects are altered yet retain time and memory through the physical processes of replication and registry achieved through a variety of sculptural and casting methods. Each artist is influenced by their immediate environment; Ragg and Jordan-Lang document and alter objects through sculptural impressions of domestic and public space. This becomes a speculative reinterpretation of the everyday. basalt wound articulates an archaeology of the now.
