A Divine Heist

A Divine Heist features a series of assemblages constructed with found objects and hand-built electronics that interrogate the notion of the “sublime” artistic experience. Through the manipulation of mundane products of consumer culture, the works attempt to hijack the art experience away from a purely visual consumption through the pervasive immateriality of the sonic object. The works are an investigation into the concept of value – aesthetic value, spiritual value, material value. The objects used are collected from the side of the street, garbage bins and op-shops, while the hand-built circuits and electronics produce a soundscape that challenges the listener into an exploration of the distinction between noise / harmony, pleasant / unpleasant, order / chaos. A Divine Heist is a quest to find the order within the chaos; to hear the harmony amongst the noise.
