Post
Patrick Hamilton

Post is an exhibition of new work by Patrick Hamilton. Combining photography, video, scanned 3D geometry and sculpture, the project flags potential complications inherent in modern post-processing practices and subsequent over-hyped misrepresentations of the physical world as it becomes flattened down on to a screen. The works are constructed from material documented and collected in remote parts of Tasmania and New Zealand. Both in situ, natural forms and found objects have been meticulously photographed, and then heavily processed with photogrammetry and other digital tools. Rather than focusing on finished productions or accurate representation of form, the works present compositions and imagery from the digitization process. These incidental snap-shots, ordinarily hidden from the audience, create distorted perspectives and an estranged relationship with the physical object.
