MIA KENWAY
In a practice that encompasses drawing and sculpture, Mia Kenway reconsiders found imagery to create a softly abstracted version of reality.
While Kenway’s sculptures often reflect the architecture where it is shown, her drawings contain reference to images sourced from natural and man made forms.
The work is often subtle, in tone as well as application, and offers a new perspective of our field of vision, one that is ultimately more light and optimistic.
This recent series of drawings employs psychedelic and tie-dye patterns in kaleidoscopic compositions. Kenway achieves a breakdown of these images through various processes of alteration, layering and colour modification.
