ROCKS EYE VIEW
MELISSA DEERSON

Under the view that all matter is a continuous spectrum of more or less complex arrangements (rather than humans being ontologically central, special or separate), barriers between human, animal, plant, rock, nail, star and computer for example, become blurred, and non-human objects gain an autonomy, an existence outside what we ascribe to them. Melissa’s assemblages attempt to activate that ‘fuzziness’, familiar things are skewed, re-visioned and brought together to try to make something that’s more than the sum of their parts.
