Midnight On Thrill Hill

Midnight on Thrill Hill is a collection of my recent kinetic sculptures and abstract acrylic paintings. My sculptures are born from a state of naive curiosity. I surround myself with materials that interest me, and I play with them. When I stumble across an idea or motion that creates energised focus, I surrender to it. My paintings are exhales, or meditations between the rigour of planning and construction of my sculptures. They unfold instinctively, coming into their own almost fortuitously. These two contrasted processes create balance in my practice. With one, I arrive at a predetermined destination, and the other, the finish line is constantly moving, eventually stumbled across wearing one shoe and my pants around my ankles.
