JESSIE WILLOW TUCKER
In Fables, Jessie Willow Tucker will be exhibiting a series of mixed media works depicting characters and scenes from her own compendium of fables.
‘Traditionally, fables use anthropomorphic animal characters to tell a story about human behaviour which is often didactic and moralistic. My fables are much more mysterious, leaving the lessons untold and while the characters show traits of humour and irony, they are also wise and the holders of great knowledge.
I like the idea that we have something to learn from animals, not just in our stories, but also in the real world.’
