c3 has bought together a curatorial team consisting of Anusha Kenny, Melissa Loughan, Kate Tucker and Ace Wagstaff, who have developed a major exhibition to occupy the entire gallery. While raising funds is the goal of the show, the curatorial team is keen to look at fundraising as a creative concept. They are particularly interested in exploring ways in which large-scale institutions create funding opportunities through their environments and functions. To this end, the curators will create a Faux Museum within the gallery (an institution within an institution) that will replicate specific zones, allowing for a multitude of approaches.

The zones are:

THE GIFT SHOP
All museums have a gift shop – a space where the public can purchase a memento of their wonderful cultural experience… A Mona Lisa Mouse Pad or an Andy Warhol Tote Bag. Works developed for this space will either be edition-based, (prints, multiples, short run editions), craft based (ceramics, jewellery, homewares, textiles) or artworks that play with the idea of ‘product’.
THE SALON
Representing “The Collection”, this room will present the traditional Salon hang that is so familiar to the Museum visit. Serious paintings, sculptures and photographs by artists will hang alongside irreverent works critiquing the institutional format.
THE EDUCATIONAL SPACE
Many institutions increase ‘accessibility’ by inviting artists to run workshops or play spaces where adults and children can participate in the making process. For this area, the team will develop a process-based installation with ticketed workshops including Emily Floyd and Kym Maxwell. Details to be announced.
THE CAFE
Come rest your weary art bones and pick up some refreshing artwork and see work that plays with imagery of food, hospitality and social engagement.

Many artworks will be priced from $25 – $300, providing reasonable priced acquisitions for collectors and punters alike. This is a fantastic opportunity to collect artworks from emerging and established artists while supporting both c3 and the artists involved. In order to acknowledge the generosity of artists, all works will be sold with a 50/50 split between the artist and c3.
ALL FUNDS RAISED WILL DIRECTLY SUPPORT ARTISTS BY REDUCING EXHIBITION FEES FOR 2015

DONATIONS
c3 also welcomes both small and large donations that can sustain the gallery throughout the year. The Abbotsford Convent Foundation is DGR registered so all cash donations will be acknowledged with a tax deductible receipt. Donations over $500 attract fantastic supporter acknowledgment packages for individuals and businesses. Your cash donation will directly support artists by lowering the exhibition fees and will facilitate the long-term sustainability of the gallery.
