BEARING WITNESS

There is something universally important about a woman looking at her mother. As a child it was watching her put out the washing or perhaps putting out her cigarette; as a teenager her driving you to the mall or driving you to your fathers house while she went on a date; but as an adult we look at how those things made who you are.
Coming from vastly different backgrounds and artistic practices, these two artists explore their relationship with their mother, and look at her past as way of predicting their own future.
They dig through old photo albums and sit with her at the dining table, probing her about what she did or who she was. Using photography and video as a new kind of mirror; that by looking at her they might find themselves somewhere.
