(UN)DOCUMENTING
ELMEDIN ŽUNIĆ
(un)documenting is an extension of Elmedin Žunić’s research project that deals with Bosnian historical trauma – trauma that is an apparent and visible currency of the past war that defines Bosnian identity. Through his work, he aims to develop further understanding of post-conflict Bosnia-Herzegovina by employing and entering into a visual system of meaning. Personal documents juxtaposed with the raw materiality of concrete suggest institutional sterility and historic brutality where the industrial meets the personal. Powerful impressions are retained in the surface, which becomes an archive on its own.
