FORME
LISA ENGELHARDT

Using the origins of the botanic, nature’s most proud ‘original’ moment, as a thematic starting point – Forme uses the design element of a pattern repeat to subvert our concept of the original by replacing it with a reproduction. Creating an image that sees the original as a continuing repeat of never ending reproducibility, Englehardt refers to both natures’ inherent ability to reproduce in a biological sense and man’s desire to reproduce in a synthetic sense – the origin versus the artifice. Using elements of hand drawing to reference the primitive genes’s of the handmade, the works are created from a collation of found imagery, ink drawings and photographs and reproduced in the form of mixed media digital prints.
