SPACE B
HELICOPTER
KIMBALL HOLTH
This show is a selection of paintings that emerged from those recurring moments in an art practice where it seems to become painfully clear that there is no possible way to escape who you are – that each of your decisions were already anticipated by the ones you made before. To become less of yourself and more of someone or something else seems to be the answer. You were already composed of clichés and your most creative moments weren’t ever truly yours to own, so at least try to be authentic and assume a persona: a horse, a helicopter, John Carpenter’s 1982 film The Thing or a monomaniac at sea 122 years before the development of The Global Positioning System (GPS).
