KATE TUCKER
STORM CLOUD CARNIVAL
Kate Tucker is a Melbourne based artist working across a range of media. Process and craftsmanship are central to Kate’s multidisciplinary practice. Her current work explores the possibilities of paper, through the medium of painting. The paintings begin as ‘portraits of paper’, but morph organically through the process of their making. Kate is drawn to this process as it allows images to reveal themselves, free of narrative or boundaries. She seeks to create images that are suggestive of vast scenes and macroscopic sections, but in fact belong in neither category. Colour, proliferation and pattern are recurring themes in Kate’s work.
