CONCRETE HERMITS
These works begin with the use of concrete for the surface of painting.
Both metaphorical and literal in its use as paintings ground, concrete acts as a solid support for the application of the image. The images that appear are connected to my experiences and observations of the people who inhabit my neighbourhood – in a way these works are a visual ode to these narratives. Though beyond this personal framework I hope that these works will provoke a broader questioning of certain social impositions that exist – that despite the rapid developments those on the periphery, essential stay unmoved and unchanged
