Great Comfort, Small Model deals with the re-emergence of iconic design through secondary, reactive design, and the shifting values of these objects and spaces. The filtering of Modernist design though time has created a decline in its functional currency, while it maintains a strong cultural and decorative currency, counter to its original purpose. Scarlett Rowe and Brigit Ryan’s works make enquiries into spaces where this decline is present, making work in response to the physical and conceptual experience of the loss of function in functional spaces.
