PAINTINGS WITHOUT HEADS
ALISON KENNEDY
This series of works questions traditional concepts of painting.
One way to do this is using new forms and materials to express the bodily experience of
being – hence the title.
Kennedy draws on her reading of Heidegger’s Being and Time which considers the questions of being as action-in-the-world driven by subconscious, more than conscious, intent.
What do we do when we paint? Reveal or conceal?
