Yes We Can
Natalie Philipatos

Yes We Can deals with the excessive desire for particular consumer goods intrinsic to Australian young adults (muppies) today. Focusing on dominant interior trends within this demographic, an investigation takes place: taste and the value/status achieved by obtaining particular objects. Incorporating characteristics of the show room and home, Yes We Can blends these environments into a surreal, dysfunctional scenario that allows for discussion around the unattainability of having it all. Natalie Philipatos investigates the body, display, domesticity, leisure and class through deliberate reconfigurations of objects. By shifting them from their initial state of stasis into a new state of transience, the objects no longer have hold over their original purpose and can be encountered differently depending on the context in which they are viewed.
