Proposition for Villette: Quarry
Jessica Hood
Proposition for Villette: quarry is the second in a series of Jessica Hood’s works responding to a coincidental passing of a barge transporting stones in the canal of Parc de la Villette, Paris. This event relates to an architectural garden of water and stone envisaged for the site in the 1980s. Thinking through the physical source of stones for this unrealised garden, the work begins with a series of quarry site photographs. These photographs are made into drawings, activating the quarry landscape as a possible architectural space. Proposition for Villette: quarry aims to draw links between this architectural space of the quarry and the movement of stones initiated by the unrealised garden at Parc de la Villette.
